Founded in 2023
Samantha Liu founded One Green Step at 17 years old, eager to make a bigger impact. A month or so after, Lucia joined on the team to help make the vision come alive.
Non-Profit Organization
One Green Step is an environmental non-profit, 501(c)(3), fully funded by donations, sponsorships, and grants.
Our Story
One Green Step was founded in 2023, but it really began in 2018. After learning about the truth of plastic recycling in sixth grade, our founder Samantha Liu began to wonder what she could do. From classes to late night googling to YouTube videos, she began gaining confidence that individual matters are still impactful.
So, Samantha created One Green Step after reimagining her environmental club at her school. Creating One Green Step allows for a broader impact beyond one school or community. We hope to inspire others to take climate action, and we are here to guide you through it. "One Green Step" embodies this realization that individual actions matter, which we hope will encourage people to take action and lessen their climate anxiety.

Founder & CEO
I'm a senior in high school. I see and hear about all the destruction in the world, and instead of watching it happen, I want to be a part of the solution. The climate crisis affects every living thing on the Earth, which is why I think it's such a unique cause. With this nonprofit, I want to positively impact and inspire others to get started on their path to learning more about the environment and also start getting involved in the solution.

Chief Growth Officer
I'm a first-year at Bryn Mawr. I have a passion for science education and advocacy, particularly around environmental issues, and lead the MiRcore Science Advocacy newsletter. I believe the climate crisis is a key issue facing humanity, so by contributing to One Green Step I hope to do my part in raising awareness and helping people get involved!

Hi I’m Addie, and I’m a junior in high school in the Sacramento Area! I’m passionate about climate action because of the people it can bring together! In a world of much division and disagreement, nothing is more fundamental than the health of the home we all share, and I’m so grateful for all of the passionate climate leaders I’ve gotten to work with in this space. I hope you’ll be the next climate leader that our world needs, and fight for a more sustainable future together by taking One Green Step!
